A vintage handmade craft/hobby box with a weathered look consistent with age.
In the day, handmade items like this weren't uncommon - but each have their quirks!
Two fastening locks that do have keyholes, but with no keys (accompanying keys were possibly never used). The leather on the handle has mostly perished, but is still functional due to the metal component beneath.
Perhaps the most puzzling aspect is that if it were to be used as a portable box, carried by the handle, there's no evidence of there having been anything to secure the compartment contents in place. If there was, it's sadly long gone, but there doesn't appear to have been anything for this purpose originally.
All the same, a charming vintage item with a distinct look all the same.
